Mad Men: Tomorrowland

Of all the road that Don Draper could have chosen, fate and circumstance lead him not to Faye, who I was rooting for, but to Megan. I should have seen this coming, and now that it comes to it, it makes complete and total sense. Faye was terrible at dealing with Sally when she showed up in Don's office. We all knew, if that was a test, she failed it, but we didn't think it was a test. Megan passes said test with flying colors, being "so freaking charming" with Don's children, I was worried they were going to ask Don if he's been banging her. She admittedly does have a lot in common with Don, but the thing that made this matching so insane at the time it was announced was that it came completely out of the blue.

But lets get ourselves sorted. Mad Men: Season 4 has officially drawn to a close! An entire season of emotional turmoil, distress, financial collapse, and several other factors came to a head. We all know what the most talked about couple of the episode meant for Dr. Faye Miller. I've really come to love her, and I was dearly hoping she'd be the one to fulfill her own prophecy. It seems she was wrong, and bitterly so at that. I think that deep down, she wished it would be her. She spent so much time working at Don, hoping that it would happen someday, but it was sadly just not meant to be. Shortly after her exit from Sterling Campbell Draper Pryce (as I'm calling it right now, because Bert was MIA for the entire episode), she exits the series as a whole. We're sorry Faye Miller. You will be missed.

That is assuming she's gone for good, but that's what I'm doing. I'm also wondering if Bert is gone for good as well, and if his last presence was that startling little musing from Stan. By the way, Stan was completely absent from this episode as well. Anna Draper got more screen time than him, and she's dead I'll have you know. When Don visits Stephanie with his children, half-fulfilling a promise he made to Anna early on this season, he receives the ring that the real Don Draper gave to Anna to propose to her. It's rather sweet and even symbolic, as Don has figured out who he is, and who he wants to be. Now more than ever, he is Don Draper, and Megan is the one who makes him realize that. "Who is Don Draper?" The question first posed in the season premiere is answered.

Lets not forget about Peggy, the other key element of this show. She spends the finale working out the first account since the company lost Lucky Strike, and she effectively saves the company from ruin. Then again, what does it matter, with Megan and Don getting married and all that. After all her hard work, Peggy is still not getting the credit or praise she deserves, and I think that next season will have her stepping into the spotlight more. The scene between her and Joan is such an amazing scene, especially considering the rocky past they've had. They may not always agree, but their always right. Then, there's that scene that's sneaked in at the last minute, revealing that Joan is indeed pregnant, which will no doubt permeate into next season.

Finally, Sally said goodbye to Glen, which was a little sad for her, but it definitely pissed off Betty. It went from there to her firing her nanny, which is what brought Megan and Don together in the end. I have no idea which path next season will take us, and it's almost entirely pointless to guess. It's not going to stop me from trying. My year in advance predictions are that Betty and Henry will get a divorce, Don and Megan will not work out, Bert Cooper will return in one way or another, Peggy and Don will get in another intense face-off, Roger and Joan will have more sexual tension, Joan's husband will survive the war, but come back insane, and Sally will continue being so damn cute! Now it's just two weeks until I can get my Sunday night AMC fix again.
