Spiderman Reboot: Emma Stone Offered Role of Mary Jane

As news comes in on casting for the much criticized Spiderman reboot, it seems to be easier live with. This is actually starting to a lot better than the original film. It's to be directed by Marc Webb ((500) Days of Summer), written by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac), and starring Andrew Garfield (The Social Network), so it's already got a lot going for it. Personally, I think if they resort to less digital work regarding the main superhero, it could turn out spectacular. I'd like seeing a gritty and more realistic version of this story, and this time around we may actually have someone who can handle the role of Mary Jane: Emma Stone.

It's been said that Emma Stone was one of the best things about
Easy A, so I was absolutely ecstatic about her being chosen for the role. Of course, she's not the main love interest of this film, as the writers are throwing Gwen Stacy into the mix immediately. I've heard a few great names being tossed around the role, like Dianna Agron who plays Quinn on Glee. However, my personal favorite for the role at this time is Mia Wasikowska. If they're going by the history of the comics this time around, they need an actress who we can get behind and truly care about for the character, and Wasikowska definitely showed that in The Kids Are All Right.

I was never a fan of either Kirsten Dunst or Bryce Dallas Howard in the original films, so if they can successfully put quality actresses into their roles, I'll be more than happy. I'm also seriously wondering who they'll put in the role of Harry Osborne, one of Peter's best friends, because I assume he'll at least be introduced in this film. Other roles of interest include whoever the villain in this film might be, Uncle Ben, and Aunt May. If they do casting as stellar as what they've suggested so far, I'll be in a seat for the midnight release. What do you think of this recent casting news? Who would you like to see in the roles?
