Michael Giacchino to score 'Let Me In'!

Earlier today I wrote a skathing review of the teaser for Let Me In, the american remake of the Swedish horror film Let the Right One In, and my initial analysis was that it didn't have the same impact as the original film. My position stands, but the defense has slightly weakened with this news, and I mean that in the best way. It comes just in the nick of time, as we already have three of the greatest film composers releasing high profile scores this year (Hans Zimmer (Inception), James Newton Howard (Love And Other Drugs), and Alexandre Desplat (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1)). So it's my gratification to say that Michael Giacchino will score the remake.

It's sensational news, as the composer hasn't had much to work with this year, and his work on the Pixar short Day and Night was minimal. I have the firm belief that even if the film fails, the score will lift it up to something emotionally satisfying. The composer has finished his work on the TV show Lost, freeing him up to spend more time with his family and do more work on the science fiction series Fringe. He doesn't have anything lined up for next year as of yet, and in 2012 he is set to score John Carter of Mars.
