James Bond may not return?

With all respect, there is a possibility that it might happen some day. Nonetheless, I hate to be the bearer of bad, or in this case bloody terrible news, but MGM has officially shut down the next film in the James Bond franchise, which will undoubtedly and unfortunately die with it. This is completely dreadful news, and puts an end to a large heap of anticipation that has been surrounding the film. I truly wanted to see a Sam Mendes Bond film from a Peter Morgan script, but now that will not likely ever happen. At this point, I'm pretty sure that MGM is putting the finishing touches on its gravestone, and getting all its affairs in order. It may come to pass that the series is someday salvaged, but for now I'm calling it dead. Greatest apologies to all.

This raises many questions, the most of which is the state of the two highly anticipated adaptations of The Hobbit. I'm really worried that won't work out, but they have New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. to fall back on if all goes wrong. They may be able to work it out. For now, lets take a moment to remember what has been a brilliant 22 films (with a few exceptions), and a brilliant 40-something years of movies. From Sean Connery, to Roger Moore, to Pierce Brosnan, to Daniel Craig, all have held their own as different incarnations of the character. It's the only series that doesn't rest on continuity. Here's hoping the legacy doesn't die.
