Visual Effects category expanded to 5!

Well, the Academy came up with an idea, which for any other year would be a good one, but not for this year. The visual effect category has gone from having three nomination to having five. I could list reason why this is a bad idea, starting with the fact that we don't have a lot of films with great visual effects this year. Instead, I'm just going to update the list of nominations for Best Visual Effects. Before, it simply listed Inception, The Last Airbender, and Toy Story 3. Now, I've taken out Airbender, and added TRON: Legacy, Chronicles of Narnia 3, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1. Then again, Avatar could always be nominated again for the 8 minutes of new footage. You never know.

What else has changed? The rules for the Animated Feature category have, stating that now a film has to be longer than 40 minutes to be eligible, rather than before, when it had to be at least 70 minutes long for eligibility. I really can't imagine a full length animated story being able to give the same impact in 40 minutes that a 90 minute film can do. It also seems like a cheat, as if they're trying to make excuses for you to pay more money for less screentime.
