For Your Anticipation: That Handsome Man

Can't say I have much interest in "A Very Harold and Kumer 3D Christmas", which sounds just as gaudy as it probably is. It looks to be playing on very generic raunch comedy strings, along the lines of weed, masculinity, and overt heterosexuality. And who better to preach the straight line than Neil Patrick Harris. His involvement in this film is somewhat confusing to me, as it seems he had some sort of purpose, however small, in the last two films. Here, they just seem to be playing him up as much as they can. And I don't even care about Kal Penn or John Cho.

Television Breakdown: "Mother" Renewed (x2)

After a season like the one this has been, this news will certainly come as a delight to fans like me. How I Met Your Mother has been renewed for not just one, but two more seasons. This news does extend the story of Ted's search for his true love another two years, so the poor guy is bound for at least two more years of disappointment. You'd think the guy would have killed himself after six years of this, but Ted certainly has persevered. So this news can be taken in one of two lights, the first being that the producers just jumped at the chance to secure another two years for their hit show. That seems a bit too simple for me, so I'd rather believe that they are setting an end date, much like Lost did. I'd say that their show should end in 2013, or else it will become suddenly terrible and go the way of Two and a Half Men. On the other hand, I doubt Jason Segel is about to go on an insane night with strippers and bimbos.

For Your Anticipation: Chicks Dig Blind Guys

I'm sure my ultimate fascination with Beastly is garnering its share of eye rolls and speculation. I know I'm one to surprise, and my opinions are entirely my own, but somehow this appeals to me far more than any of the other releases this coming weekend. When expectations are lowered to the minimal, you're going to be pleasantly surprised. I'm walking into this assured of that quality I'll be paying to see. It looks honestly sweet, occasionally funny, and brimming with understated quality. It's not necessarily going to be Black Swan, but I'll take it for what it is.
